Kolymbithres Beach

Kolymbithres is one of the most photographed beaches in Paros, and its unusual landscape explains why. The shoreline is divided into a series of small sandy coves by enormous granite formations that have been rounded and sculpted by the wind and sea. These pale rocks create natural sunbathing platforms, sheltered corners and a setting that feels more like an outdoor sculpture garden than a conventional beach.

The water inside Naousa Bay is clear and relatively shallow close to shore, making the coves attractive to couples, families and relaxed swimmers. Some sections offer sunbeds and umbrellas, while others provide space for visitors who prefer to sit directly on the sand or rocks.

Kolymbithres can become busy during the summer, so arriving early in the morning gives you a better chance of finding a peaceful spot. Its location near Naousa also makes it easy to combine swimming with lunch or an evening walk around the town’s picturesque harbour.

Golden Beach

Golden Beach, also known as Chrissi Akti, stretches along the southeastern coast of Paros near the village of Drios. Unlike the intimate coves of Kolymbithres, this is a broad, open beach with fine sand, a long shoreline and expansive views across the Aegean Sea. There is plenty of room for walking, swimming and settling in for a complete day beside the water.

The beach is particularly famous for windsurfing. Strong winds can develop in the channel between Paros and neighbouring Naxos, creating excellent conditions for water sports. Beginners can find lessons and equipment rental, while experienced windsurfers can enjoy the livelier afternoon weather.

Visitors who are not interested in water sports will still find organised areas with umbrellas, sunbeds, cafés and nearby accommodation. The length of the beach also means that it generally feels less enclosed than many of the island’s smaller bays.

Golden Beach is a strong choice for travellers who want convenience without sacrificing scenery. On windier days, visit in the morning for calmer swimming conditions.

Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria lies on the northeastern coast of Paros, a short drive from Naousa. It offers a lively, social atmosphere and is one of the island’s best-known organised beaches. The main stretch features soft sand, transparent water and a wide range of facilities, making it an easy option for visitors who want everything nearby.

The shallow water close to shore is suitable for casual swimming and families, while water-sports operators bring additional energy to the beach during summer. Beach bars, sunbeds and music give parts of Santa Maria a fashionable character, although quieter areas can often be found by walking farther along the coastline.

The open view toward Naxos adds to the feeling of space, while the clear water is inviting for snorkelling when the sea is calm. Santa Maria is best suited to travellers looking for a complete beach-day experience rather than total seclusion.

Arrive early in July or August, particularly when you want a front-row sunbed. After swimming, nearby Naousa is ideal for dinner, shopping or drinks beside its atmospheric old port.
